The 22 year old Navarro currently sits at her highest ranking of her career currently at #23. Navarro has an 11-2 record on the season and even won her first ever tournament (Hobart) on tour just a month ago in Australia. Her two losses this season were against impressive opponents as she lost to #3 ranked C. Gauff and to Australian Open finalist D. Yastremska. Navarro beat Mertens in the final of the Hobart Open taking the match in 3 sets. That is the only tournament Mertens had any success at this season as she's been eliminated in the quarters or earlier of every other tournament she's been in. I expect the same type of fate for Mertens tomorrow morning with Navarro taking this match.
