PGA Tour Championship 72 Hole Matchup Bets

With only 50 golfers competing, the FedExCup tournament has moved from Memphis, where Lucas Glover won his second consecutive event and gave us our second consecutive winner, to Chicago. This week the playoffs are in a Chicago suburb called Olympia Fields for the BMW Championship.The Olympia Fields Country Club has a great golf course called the North Course, considered one of the top 50 courses in the United States. This course was designed by Willie Park Jr. in 1923 and has a classic layout with trees and open spaces. It's been changed a bit over time, but the main design and strategy are still the same. The course has hilly areas, narrow fairways, and a creek that winds through several holes.The BMW Championship has usually been played on easier courses in the past decade. Last year, the winner finished with a score of 14-under par, and the year before that, the winner scored 27-under. In seven out of the last 11 championships, the winners scored 20-under or even better.However, Olympia Fields is a different kind of challenge. It's one of players' toughest courses in the last five years. When it was played as a PGA Tour event in 2020, the winner scored just -4, and only five players finished with scores under par. On average, players scored 1.82 strokes over par on this course, making it the fifth most challenging course in that period.The course has thick rough, strategically placed sand bunkers and tricky greens. Players who don't perform at their best will struggle in various ways. It's like a test similar to the U.S. Open, examining all aspects of a player's game. Making bad shots will have serious consequences. PGA BMW Championship

The PGA TOUR starts its 17th FedEx Cup Playoffs. This competition happens throughout the season and ends with the FedEx Cup Playoffs. These playoffs consist of three events that decide the winner of the season. The first event is the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings (based on their performance up to now) are competing at TPC Southwind. As the playoffs go on, the number of players will decrease &ndash; from 70 to 50 to 30.The players in the FedEx St. Jude Championship aim to advance to the season's final event, called the Tour Championship. In this last event, there's a chance to win a big prize of $18 million. The total bonus money for the FedEx Cup Playoffs is $75 million, and the player who wins the FedEx Cup at the end will get the main share of this money. The points that players earned during the regular season also count for the playoffs.As I mentioned before, the playoffs have a decreasing number of players in each event. The FedEx St. Jude Championship has 70 players, the BMW Championship has 50 players, and the Tour Championship has 30 players. This is where the FedEx Cup Champion will be determined. The current top three players in the standings are Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy. They're leading before the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Unlike regular tournaments, there won't be cuts to reduce the number of players in the playoffs. The difficulty with majors since the LIV tour came into existence is modeling the players not regularly playing on the PGA tour. I am adding Brooks Koepka to the bets because he profiles well for this course and is a machine in majors. Cam Smith needs consideration, but his price is too short for me. The most challenging call was whether to take Scheffler or Rory. They both fit this course well and are both playing great golf. Obviously, you can play them both, but it will limit the number of win bets you can make. This year's Scottish Open is going to be huge! It's different from previous years because two big tours, the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, are working together for the first time.
