The Pirates host the Cubs for three game series starting tonight, it will be M. Keller versus J. Taillon on the mound. After two rough starts versus the Padres and Dodgers, Keller rebounded nicely to his normal form pitching 7 scoreless innings in his last start versus the Rangers. He will also be making his 2nd start of the season versus the Cubs, his first was 6 solid inning allowing only 2 runs in a 3-2 win. Keller has been one of the best home pitchers this season with a 2.58 home ERA and a 5-2 W/L record. For the Cubs, Taillon has not pitched well at all in August as the Cubs have lost 3 of his 4 starts while sporting a 5.73 ERA, their only win came versus the White Sox. I like the Pirates here at home as a small favorite.

SD Padres +104 & SD Padres/St Louis Cardinals O9.5 +105

The Padres are on the road is St Louis to begin a series with the Cards, it will be R. Vasquez versus K. Gibson on the mound. Vasquez will be making his first start since August 8th as it looks like the Padres may be going with a six man rotation. Vasquez hasn’t been very good this season as his ERA is 4.63 and things are even worse on the road at 6.08. Gibson for the Cards hasn’t performed much better either as his season ERA is 4.22 and 4.62 at home. Overs have been common place in Gibson starts as the over has hit in 8 of his last 9 starts, it is the same for Vasquez and the Padres as 7 of his last 9 starts have gone over the total. With neither starter pitching well and both offenses providing great run support, I like the over here and I do like the Padres offense to out hit the Cards.
