Val’s Cluj-Napoca Finals Play

M. Giron did exactly what we expected tonight winning in straight sets over A. Mannarino reaching the finals of the Dallas Open. Tomorrow we move to the WTA for a play.

Tomorrow morning is the final of the Cluj-Napoca final in Romania, Romanians will be happy as they have local A. Bogdan facing the Czech K. Pliskova. Pliskova was at the top of her game back in 2017 when she was ranked #1 on tour and stayed in the top 10 till 2021. Then injuries overcame her body and it's been a downward spiral for the 31 year old, she currently ranks #78. However, she's looks healthy again and has shown it at this tournament, she's won all 4 of her matches in straight sets and hasn't been challenged by any of her opponents. What is there to say about the 31 year old Bogdan besides the fact that she's an average tennis player at best, she's never won a WTA tournament in the 14 year she's been on tour and the only advantage she has in this match versus Pliskova is the crowd will be cheering for her to win. Unfortunately for her, that won't be enough as Pliskova looks healthy and is the superior player, I like Pliskova in straight sets here.
