Detroit Lions +9.5 -106
The Lions host the Bills this afternoon is the first game of the Thanksgiving triple header. Even though the Bills are 7-3 on the season they play has slipped of late with embarrassing losses in to the Vikings and Jets in the last 3 weeks and they didn’t look good in their win over the Browns. Injuries on the defensive side have made them look very vulnerable. The Lions have won 3 straight and emotions should be running high after going to New York and beating the Giants straight up. With a line posted at 9.5 it looks like Vegas wants everyone to jump on the Bills. The Lions are 6-4 ATS this season while the Bills are 5-4-1, I will back the home team on a short week to keep this game close.
New York Giants +10 -106
The Cowboys host the Giants for a NFC East divisional game. The line posted for this game seems like your typical over reaction to last week’s results. Giants lost straight up at home to the Lions while the Cowboys pummeled the Vikings on the road. Both teams have been very good ATS 7-3, however, most of that was accomplished by both sides as dogs. Now we have the Cowboys as 10 point favorites, I’m not ready to believe they’re that much better than the Giants on a short week to prepare. I like the Giants to keep this one close and there is always the chance with a back cover with a spread this high.
Xavier Musketeers -1.5 -106
Xavier and Florida meet in the first round of the Phil Knight Legacy Invitational. The Gators are led by senior C. Castleton 25.2 ppg; however, there is a big drop off after that to W. Richard 14 ppg. The Gators are 3-1 but have played no one of significance, beating Stony Brook, Kennesaw St and a bad Florida St team hasn’t impressed me. The Musketeers are a veteran laden squad led by seniors J. Nunge and Z. Freemantle whom together should be able to limit Castleton’s scoring chances and even if Castleton is able to score and I don’t think the Gators have enough secondary options to keep up with Xavier.
USC Trojans +8.5 -106
The Vols and Trojans meet up this afternoon in Round 2 of the Battle 4 Atlantis; the Vols 71-45 victory is very misleading in my mind. I watched the game from beginning to end and the Vols didn’t look good at all and had they played a more competent offensive team they could have easily lost. Today they play just that in the Trojans whom have offensive options in D. Peterson and B. Ellis. The Vols are solid defensive team but can struggle on the offensive end; if the Trojans can hit their shots I can see them keeping this game close to the final buzzer.
