The Bruins visit the Red Wings this afternoon in Detroit. This is a B2B for the Bruins as they needed a comeback victory in overtime to beat the Sabres. The Bruins were not impressive at all even though they pulled out the win. The Bruins continue to lack production outside of their top line, as in seasons past they’re mediocre on the road with an 8-5-1. The Wings are a strong home team with an 11-4-2 record and have dominated the Bruins at Little Caesars Arena winning the last 4 matchups. I expect that to continue today.  

New York Rangers -1.5 +225

The Rangers host the Lightning at MSG today. These two clubs played each other two days ago with the Rangers needing a shootout to put away the Lightning. The Lightning are projected to start Brian Elliott again and that provides the Rangers with a clear advantage in this contest. The Rangers had the lead twice on the Lightning on New Year’s Eve but couldn’t pull away as the Lightning tied it up twice. Today with home ice advantage I think the Rangers can and will take this by 2 goals or more. 

Denver Broncos +295

The Broncos visit the Chargers is a must win game for both teams to have any chance of making the playoffs. The Chargers looked awful last week losing straight up as a 10 point favorite on the road to the Texans. The Chargers have a history of being a terrible team in December and January over the last decade, often missing the playoffs after very strong starts to the season. Last week’s loss looks like it might be a precursor to that happening again for them, I think the Chargers will be the tighter team here and expect them to make mistakes as in year’s past. This is a divisional game and nothing could make the Broncos happier than ruining the Chargers playoff chances.
