Val’s Big Payday Parlay January 20th 2023

Val

We go 0-3 last night as the Raptors chocked away a victory after going into the 4th quarter up 8 points, the Devils lost in OT after tying it up late in the 3rd period and unfortunately the Kings were a no show on home ice versus the Stars. Tonight we have two hockey plays and an NBA play that make up the parlay.

Pittsburgh Penguins -147

The Penguins and Senators are playing the back end of a home and home, the Sens won their home game on Wednesday and I expect the Penguins to return the favor tonight in Pittsburgh. The Sens were honestly lucky to come out of that game victorious because their goalie C. Talbot didn’t play well at all. The Pens are much better on home ice (12-5-4-0) than on the road, while the Sens are sub .500 (8-11-2-0) on the road. Plus it has been years since the Sens beat the Penguins on the road, they’re 4-22 in the last 26 meetings in Pittsburgh. I like the Penguins to even the score here in this home and home series.

Colorado Avalanche -154

The Canucks host the Avs tonight and one has to wonder how much longer Coach B. Boudreau can keep his job. He’s clearly a lame duck coach at this point, the Canucks are having a terrible season, they’ve lost 8 of 10, will be big sellers come the trade deadline and this will be the beginning of a rebuild. You don’t keep a coach of his pedigree to run a rebuild and he probably doesn’t want to be around for one either. The Avs have won three straight and are probably the healthiest they’ve been all season; the offense is back on track having scored 4 or more goals in all three wins and shouldn’t have much of an issue putting the Canucks away tonight.

Sacramento Kings -160

The Kings host the Thunder tonight in Sacramento, both teams are nice winning streaks, the Thunder have won 4 straight while the Kings have won 5 straight. The Kings are in the thick of the playoff picture and we haven’t seen this type of success in Sactown since the days of P. Stojakovic, C. Webber and J. “White Chocolate” Williams. The Kings could be without starting Centre D. Sabonis, but have a capable backup in R. Holmes that posted a double double in his absence last game. The Thunder are not a great road team (8-14) and have lost 5 of the last 6 meeting straight up in Sacramento. I like the Kings here.
