Philadelphia Flyers -1.5 +173
The Sens are in Philly for an afternoon matchup with the Flyers, both sides will be on a B2B with similar a result yesterday, which was a loss. The Sens looked better than the Flyers as they took the Jets to OT, however, that was on home ice, on the road the Sens are struggling mightily this season at 4-13. The Flyers C. Hart didn't look good at all versus the Avs getting pulled after the 2nd period after allowing 5 goals in an eventual 7-4. The Flyers should be going with S. Ersson today and the Sens are projected to start M. Sogaard. That is a huge advantage for the Flyers as Ersson has actually outplayed Hart this season and provided them with more opportunities to win games. The Sens are flawed in so many areas and even the coaching change to J. Martin has not yielded different result, I like the Flyers on home ice by multiple goals.
NY Islanders -101
The Islanders became the 5th NHL team to fire they coach yesterday and they quickly hired HOF P. Roy as their new head coach. Roy hasn't coached in the league in several years after an unceremonious exit from the Avs organization. He said he learnt a lot from that experience and we will see if he can apply it in NY. The Isles have plenty of talent on this roster that has underperformed this season, time will tell if Roy can extract it and produce better results. The Stars will be on a B2B and 3rd game in 4 days and can see fatigue being a factor tonight versus the Isles that haven't played in 2 days. I also like the new coach factor to motivate the Islanders players to provide that extra hustle to impress their new coach. I like the Isles at home tonight.
Detroit Red Wings +103
Two teams playing very well of late meet in Detroit tonight when the Wings host the Lightning. Both sides have won 7 of their last 10 games. The Lightning will be on a B2B and 3rd game in 4 nights, while the Red Wings are little more rested having not played since Friday. The Bolts have won 5 straight and have looked good, however, I think this is a rough spot for them with so many game played in a short period of time. Players like Stamkos, Hedman have quite a bit a thread on their tires and these type of stretches can't be easy on them. The Red Wings have always given the Bolts issues in the past even when their roster was much weaker than it currently is winning 4 of the last 6 meetings, they were dogs in every one of those wins. I like the Red Wings to surprise the Bolts again here tonight.
