Cleveland Cavaliers -134
The Cavs try to extend their win streak to 7 games when then visit the Hawks tonight, the Cavs are coming off a thrashing of a Buckless Antetokounmpo squad 135-95 Wednesday night. The Hawks have won 3 straight themselves, however, are in a tough spot as they will be on a B2B and 3rd game in 4 nights and are dealing with an injury to D. Hunter and could be missing T. Young for a 2nd straight game. Even if Young were to suit up for tonight's game the Hawks are a lackluster 8-11 on home court this season and I expect them to struggle versus a Cavs D that ranks top 10 in FG%, FGM and 3PT%. The same cannot be said about the Hawks D that ranks 25th or worse in the same categories. D. Mitchell and the Cavs should be able to take this game from the Hawks tonight.
NY Rangers +104
The Rangers continue their west coast road trip with a games versus the Kings tonight, the Kings continue to struggle and have now lost 9 of their last 10 games and cannot seem to get out of this rut. Their offense had dried up as scoring goals has been a real issue for them, outside their victory versus the Canes where they scored 5 goals, they've scored 2 goals or less in 6 of their 9 losses. With a game on tap tomorrow night versus the Ducks, I fully expect J. Quick to get the nod versus his former tonight and in the building where he's been so successful during his career. He will be just as motivated as he was Dec 10th when he faced the Kings at MSG and was phenomenal stopping 25 of 26 shots in a Rangers 4-1 win. Quick plays well again tonight as the Rangers upset the Kings.
Anaheim Ducks -1.5 +197
Two bad teams faceoff in San Jose tonight when the Ducks visit the Sharks. The Ducks have only won 2 of their last 10 games while the Sharks are even worse, only winning 1 of their last 10. Under normal circumstances you would want to stay away from a game like this as neither side exudes confidence, however, when you break it down the Ducks are the better team as they have the better goaltender in Gibson over Kahkonen or Blackwood, have more overall talent on the offensive and defensive end and are dealing with less injuries than the Sharks. The Sharks have zero home ice advantage with only 6 wins in 20 games and considering how bad the Ducks been this season, they're decent on the road at 9-12. The Ducks have won 8 of the last 10 meetings versus the Sharks and I expect that dominance to continue here.
