Val’s Aussie Open Play - Round 4 (Day 1)
Val
We hit again yesterday as the Anisimova/Badosa Gibert match didn't go 3 sets as I expected but still went over 21.5 games as it was a tight match throughout in an Anisimova 7-5 6-4 win. We head back to the men's side for our play tonight.
Record 5-2 (+4 units)
Casper Ruud -1.5 sets -120 (Risk 1.20 for 1 unit) Expected start time 1am EST Jan 20th.
Norway's C. Ruud takes on Britain's C. Norrie in the 4th round of the Aussie Open tonight while most of us will be sleeping. Both cruised in their 1st round match winning in straight sets, however, both hit road blocks in the 2nd round as Norrie needed to come back from 2 sets down versus Italian G. Zeppieri while Ruud also needed 5 sets to beat Aussie M. Purcell. Ruud faced a lot of adversity versus Purcell, as Purcell was playing well, had the home town crowd behind him and Ruud was able to show plenty of fortitude winning the match. Norrie for his part was fortunate that Zeppieri's game cracked after taking a 2 set lead when the nerves kicked in and he started committing unforced errors which allowed Norrie back into the match and eventually win it. Ruud is 3-0 in his career versus Norrie, winning once on interior hard court and 2-0 on exterior hard court never dropping a set. Ruud's game has been lot cleaner than Norrie's so far at this tournament so I expect him to take this match at worst in 4 sets and cover the -1.5.
