Val’s Aussie Open Play - Round 1 (Day 3)
Val
J. Mensik did as expected and took out D. Shapovalov. Shapovalov still doesn't look 100% physically and that clearly had an affect on his mental part of the game. Time will tell if can get back on track this season.
Record 2-1 (+1 unit)
Arthur Cazaux +1.5 sets -159 (Risk 1.59 for 1 unit) Expected start time 9pm Jan 15th.
France's A. Cazaux faces Serbian L. Djere in the 1st round of the Aussie Open. Djere is a player whom excels on clay but really struggles on every other surface on tour. Since he started his career on tour in 2013, he has a losing record on hard court (52-65), interior hard court (35-43) and grass (7-13). Djere just recently lost to the #142 ranked player on tour J. Shang in a tournament at the beginning of January. Cazaux is a 21 year old whom doesn't have a lot of experience on tour but has had plenty of success on the Challenger tour, is 5-0 on the season to date and excels on hard court with an 80-25 career record. Djere is step up in competition for Cazaux, but Djere struggles so much on hard court that he is prime to be upset here or worst case lose 2 sets in this match. I like Cazaux here +1.5 sets.
