OVERALL RECORD: 176-173-7, -3.51u
RECAP: We end up getting kicked in the teeth again, losing all of our plays yesterday and overall, we are just in the dumps in the MLB. The Twins got out to an early lead, and then gave it all away as the Mets prevailed, and we lost the Team Total Parlay, again, by just the slimmest of margins. It’s getting frustrating in these streets. On to Tuesday!

July 30th, 2024

I know that the big story that everyone is talking about is the Chicago White Sox and how bad they are, and it may even be inflating this line – but the fact of the matter is that the Royals are the one of the best teams in baseball right now, they have one of the most consistent pitchers in the league on the mound tonight, and they’re facing off against a literal loose Cannon – who has a WHIP near 1.50 since the ASB, and in July in general.

The Royals are the road team and are sending out Michael Wacha, who has been absolutely excellent in July this season. He’s been one of the best pitchers in the league in limiting hard hits, and his offspeed pitches have been devastating this season. His WHIP has been hovering around 1.00-1.10 recently, and he’s been great against the White Sox in his career, including seven scoreless the last time he faced off against this offense. Plus, this White Sox offense has been just… so bad over their last ten games, and are getting on base a measly 24% of the time.

The Royals, meanwhile, over their last ten games, have been getting on base 35% of the time and pushing across nearly six runs per game in that stretch. It’s absolutely nuts. Overall against righties they’ve crushed it too, getting on base 31% this season and pushing across five runs per game on average this season. It’s rare that the White Sox offense would be able to score five runs in one game like they did last night, but to do it two nights in a row? Near impossible.

Plus, Jonathan Cannon hasn’t been it recently, going 0-3 over four games in July, allowing eleven earned runs over 24 innings. That’s nearly a run every two innings, and while he’s been dependable going deep into games, it won’t matter, because this White Sox bullpen has copies of me throwing out of it.

If the Sox were going to break their streak, it was going to be last night. With Wacha on the mound tonight, I know that Bobby Witt and company are going to be able to get the job done tonight as well.

PICK: Kansas City Royals -1.5
