The Marlins look to snap their 9 game losing streak to the Phillies tonight. The lone bright spot in the rotation S. Alcantara faces K. Gibson tonight. Alcantara will be making his 5th start versus the Phils this season and he’s pitched really well in 3 of the 4. Gibson hasn’t been great lately giving up 3 or more runs in 4 of his last 5 starts. Yes the Marlins offense is not very good, but is facing a pitcher struggling to prevent runs, so I will back the better pitcher in Alcantara at plus money.

Chicago Cubs -1.5 +147

This afternoon is the rubber game of this 3 game series between the Reds and Cubs. Both teams are just playing out the season and the Reds have a lot of September call ups in their lineup. The Cubs are still playing their regulars on a daily basis and I think that provides them with a little advantage over the Reds. Both pitchers tonight in L. Cessa and A. Sampson have been serviceable to this point but neither is intimidating the opposing lineup. Considering the Cubs have the stronger lineup heading out there today, I will back them to cover the run line.

Minnesota Twins +126

The Twins and Yanks face each other tonight as the Twins try to salvage a game in this 4 game series. It will be 2 really good pitchers going at it in S. Gray and N. Cortes; both have really pitched well as of late as Gray has an ERA of 2.27 and Cortes is 2.55 in their last 7 starts. The Twins are starting to run out of games to make a push for the final Wild Card spot and cannot afford to be swept today if they want to make the playoffs. I will back Gray to outpitch Cortes in what I expect to be a low scoring game.
