Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 +132
The Rays look to sweep the Red Sox tonight and maintain their lead in the Wild Card race. Tonight the Sox send N. Pivetta to the mound to face J. Springs; the Rays offense is not one of the best in MLB, however, they do seem to have Pivetta’s number, this will be his 3rd start versus the Rays and he’s been lite up in both giving up 12 earned runs over 10 1/3 innings pitched with the Rays winning both games by multiple runs. That is enough info for me to back the Rays on the run line here.
Kansas City Royals +126
Our Royals play didn’t cash for the parlay yesterday but I’m going back with them again today when C. Morris faces Z. Greinke. Greinke is similar to another veteran pitcher A. Wainwrightwe like to back when pitching at home and fade on the road. The Royals are 7-3 in Greinke’s 10 home starts while he’s posted a 1.93 ERA. Greinke has pitched twice versus the Guardians both at Kaufman Stadium and gave up 1 earned run over 10 2/3 innings with the Royals winning both games. N. Mahrley is behind home plate for this game and the home team is 19-12, so add that to Greinke’s home success and the Royals are the play.
Chicago White Sox/Seattle Mariners O7.5 +107
This is the rubber game of this 3 game series between the Sox and Mariners; it will be M. Kopech versus L. Castillo on the mound. Kopech hasn’t been great on the road this season with his ERA at 4.41 and the Mariners should be able to touch him up. Castillo has been nothing short of spectacular since the Mariners acquired him and under normal circumstances I would expect him to shut down the Sox today, the issue is A. Porter behind the plate, he’s a huge over umpire (18-6). There has been an average of 12 runs scored in the last 9 games he’s umpired, and if your thoughts are who was pitching in those games, he is a list of some of the names that pitched: Z. Wheeler, C. Burnes, J. Taillon, M. Mikolas & A. Monoah. You have last year’s CY Young winner and the 3 All-Stars listed here. The over is the play here.
