The post season officially begins today and the first game on the docket is Tampa Bay and Cleveland. S. McClanahan versus the veteran S. Bieber on the mound should be an exciting pitcher's dual to watch. The Rays came into the playoffs having lost 5 straight and haven't looked down the stretch. At one point in the second half they were 20 games over .500 and only finished the season 10 games over. The Guardians surprised many this season but they continue to be successful under Tito Francona thanks to their great pitching staff. I don't like the Rays chances to score many runs today and the Guardians have proven capable to score runs this seasons. Guardians win by a couple.

Philadelphia Phillies -101

The Phillies play the Cards in this best of 3 series and even though the Cards are the higher seed, the Phillies have the better pitchers going in the series. Z. Wheeler will be followed by A. Nola and the R. Suarez, the Cardinals are going with J. Quintana, then M. Mikolas and if G3 is necessary the starter hasn't been decided. I cannot believe A. Wainwright isn't getting the nod in the first 2 games, I can't imagine him taking that very well. The Phillies have hit lefthanders well all season and do not see that changing today versus Quintana. I like the Phillies to take G1.

New York Mets -1.5 +168

The Mets just couldn't keep their division lead over the last 2 weeks of the season as the Braves passed them and earned the first round bye. It isn't as if the Mets played poorly down the stretch, it just that the Braves played a little better. Today we have Y. Darvish facing M. Scherzer, Scherzer in my mind has always been a money pitcher as he has pitched well during the post season. I like the Mets offense more than that of the Padres even after all the acquisitions the Padres made at the deadline. Citi Field will be rocking today and like the Mets by a couple of runs today.
