The Phillies face the Astros in G2 of this series as they send R. Suarez to the mound to face J. Verlander. Yesterday we backed the Astros as they were shutout by A. Nola, whom pitched a great game. Also, Astros manager D. Baker removed a good portion of his lineup in the 6th inning for backups and I can see him doing the same today. The Phillies have more to play for as they can’t still catch the Padres in the Wild Card race if they win out and the Padres lose. With the Astros thinking of resting players and Verlander possibly not going deep into this game to avoid injury, I like the Phils at this big price.

Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 +153

The DBacks look to take advantage of the Brewers who were eliminated from any chance of making the playoff last night. The Brewers have had a rough go at it in the 2nd half of the season; they went from leading the NL Central by 3 games to being 7 behind the Cards and out of the playoff picture. Their offense and bullpen were the major culprits for the negative turnaround. Tonight does not get any easier for the Brewers as they face Z. Gallen whom has dominated all season, Brewers manager C. Counsell will probably rest many of his starters seeing that their playoff chances are done. I like the DBacks big tonight.

San Francisco Giants +137

The Giants face the Padres tonight in a battle of left handed starters; it will be C. Rodon and S. Manaea. The numbers show that the Giants have the better arm on the mound as Manaea has not pitched well for a majority of the season, his ERA on the season is 5.27 while his ERA over his last 7 starts is even higher at 7.09 with the Padres losing 5 of them. Rodon has pitched well all season and I expect him to continue that tonight versus the Padres. Giants win as a dog tonight.
