The Twins and Tigers play the rubber game of this 3 game series this afternoon in Detroit. The Twins send S. Woods-Richardson to the mound and he will be making his Major League debut, he’s dominated in the upper levels of the minors this season posting an ERA of 2.73, WHIP of 1.07 and 116 Ks over 108.2 innings pitched in AA & AAA. For the Tigers, J. Wentz hasn’t been great when pitching at home; his ERA is 6.32 and never making past 5 innings. I will back the Twins with their rookie pitcher to win by multiple runs today.

San Francisco Giants -1.5 +177

Another series that will be decided by a rubber game is Arizona versus San Francisco; it will be Z. Davies versus S. Alexander on the mound. Before yesterday’s loss to the DBacks the Giants had 10 of their previous 11 games and were scoring a ton of runs in the process. I think yesterday’s loss was just a small hick up and they get back on the winning track today. Davies hasn’t been good on the road this season as his ERA is 4.98 and the DBacks have lost 10 of his 15 starts (7 by 2 runs or more). It will be a bullpen game for the Giants as Alexander won’t pitch more than an inning or 2, but I don’t see that being an issue for them today.

Miami Marlins +153

The Brewers look to not blow their playoff chances versus the Marlins this afternoon. However, it almost feels like the Brewers relievers have no interest in making the playoffs, another collapse in the 9th inning turned a 3-2 lead into a 4-3 loss. Today the Brewers turn to F. Peralta who last pitched in relief 3 days ago against these same Marlins and proceeded to give up 4 runs in the 8th inning and turn 2-0 lead into a 4-2 loss. Clearly it will be a bullpen game for the Brewers and that is not a good thing even against the weak hitting Marlins. The Marlins have P. Lopez going and he’s pitched well on the road all season, the Marlins have won 9 of his 15 starts while posting an ERA of 3.24. The Brewers will blow a huge opportunity today versus the Marlins.
