The Oilers host the Preds tonight; the Oilers are returning home from a 3 game road trip where they went 3-0 with 2 quality wins over the Blues and Flames. The Oilers have currently won 4 straight while the Preds have lost 6 of their last 7 games. Defense and goaltending has been a real issue for the Preds, they’ve given a minimum of 3 goals in all 6 losses, and the Oilers are not the right team to play when that is a problem. The Preds have lost 4 straight in Edmonton and 6 straight overall to the Oilers, I expect that dominance to continue tonight as the Preds are not playing good hockey right now.

New York Islanders/Chicago Blackhawks O6 -106

The Islanders are in Chicago to face the Blackhawks tonight. Low scoring games are not something the Blackhawks have experienced much this season; the over is 7-2 on the season in 9 games. The Islanders for themselves have found a scoring touch of late scoring a minimum of 3 goals in 4 of their last 5 games. The Islanders will have a clear advantage in goal tonight with I. Sorokin over A. Stalock; however, the Blackhawks shouldn’t have an issue getting their normal 2-3 goals. Stalock for the Hawks has given up 15 goals over his last 4 starts so I expect a high scoring game tonight.

Minnesota Wild -1.5 +108

The Wild host the Habs tonight in Minnesota. These teams played a week ago in Montreal with the Wild winning 3-1 behind a strong performance by MA Fleury. I wrote in that write up that Fleury would dominate as he always has in his career versus Montreal. He’s a local kid that has enjoyed sticking it to the Habs almost every time he plays them. The city of Minnesota has not been kind to the Habs as they’ve lost 8 straight there with 5 of those wins by 2 goals or more. The Habs have been playing way above their heads to date and I expect them to come down a couple of notches tonight.
