St Louis Cardinals -1.5 +107

The Cards continued their strong play with another win last night by a score of 1-0 versus the Reds. Today will not be any easier for the Reds as they have to face S. Gray and his 1.51 home ERA. We backed Gray last Sunday when he helped us win our parlay as he was perfect over 6 2/3 IP before giving up a HR to P. Bailey of the Giants in a 5-3 win. The Reds counter with C. Spiers on the mound and he's been marginal at best since being added to the Reds rotation, in his only two starts versus both versus the Pirates he's given up 7 ER over 12 IP. Gray will be able to continue his dominance at Busch Stadium and I like the the Cards on the run line here.

Pittsburgh Pirates +133

The Pirates and Braves play G2 of their series this afternoon and we could be in for a very low scoring game when P. Skenes faces M. Fried, Both Skenes and Fried are in a zone right now and opponents have had zero success of late. Skenes has a 2.14 ERA on the season, and he's been even more impressive on the road in three starts with a 0.98 ERA with the Pirates winning all three. Fried had a rough start to the season giving up 10 ER over his first 2 starts but has rebounded in a big way with the Braves winning 9 of his next 13 starts as he's posted a 2.11 ERA. As I mentioned, runs will be tough to come by today but I do believe the Pirates will be able to get to Fried more than the Braves will be versus Skenes and think the Pirates are too big of a dog here.

Chicago Cubs -115 1st 5 innings

The Cubs look to rebound from another loss last night to the Brewers 4-2, this afternoon it will be J. Steele versus T. Myers. Steele has really pitched well of late posting a 2.58 ERA over his last 7 starts, however, a combination of weak offense and poor bullpen have prevented the Cubs from winning many of those starts. Myers has pitched well overall since being added to the Brewers rotation, however, he hasn't pitched well Miller Park with a 5.12 ERA. There are too many questions marks with the Cubs bullpen at the moment to back them for the full game, so I will back Steele and the Cubs for the first 5 innings of this game.
