The Reds and Pirates play G2 of their three game series tonight. The Pirates won the opener 9-5 last night which was a surprise too many considering M. Keller and H. Greene were on the mound, just five days, those two pitchers faced each other in a game that finished 1-0. Tonight we have L. Ortiz on the mound versus G. Ashcraft and I expect plenty of runs again, Ortiz will be making his first start of the season as he's proven in the past that he is a spot starter/injury replacement at best, last season he made 15 starts (only 3 quality starts) for the Pirates and finished with a 4-5 record and 4.93 ERA. Ashcraft hasn't been much better this season for the Reds as he has 5.05 ERA overall and even worse at home at 7.71. Even with that ballooned ERA, the Reds have been able to win 3 of 4 Ashcraft home start because they scored a ridiculous amount of runs for him.  I like the Reds on the run line and over the total here.

Oakland A's/LA Angels O9 -110

The A's and Angels go at it again this afternoon when J. Estes faces R. Contreras on the mound. Last night was a high scoring game that produced 12 runs and I see the same type of result this afternoon. Contreras has pitched out of the bullpen this season with an ERA close to 4.00, last season when he was a starter for the Pirates he didn't perform well with a 6.13 ERA in 11 starts. Estes has not pitched well on the road this season as his ERA is 8.01 ERA while the A's have lost 4 of his 5 road starts. With both starters having issuers with consistency and we should see plenty of runs scored making the over the play here.
