It is now official, the Angels will not move S. Ohtani before the trade deadline and will actually be buyers in a final attempt to make the postseason before Ohtani becomes a free agent. I actually believe this news will provide the Angels with an emotional boost going forward and that will begin today with the doubleheader versus the Tigers. G1 pits Ohtani versus his former teammate M. Lorenzen, Ohtani has not been his best over his last couple of starts but we all know how dominant he can be on any given day. Lorenzen has pitched well over his last 3 starts but 2 of those where versus the light hitting Royals and A's so I don't put that much weight into that success. For G2, it will be P. Sandoval versus M. Manning on the mound. Sandoval has pitched well over his last 2 starts and starting to look like the pitcher that pitched well all of last season, he dominated the Padres and Yankees giving up only 2 ER over 12 1/3 innings pitched. For the Tigers, Manning has pitched well to this point but I'm expecting regression as history has shown that he isn't as good as his numbers show. The Angels management is being bold by going for it and I think that confidence with be fruitful starting with a sweep in this doubleheader today.

Chicago White Sox -1.5 +184

The White Sox look to rebound from 5 straight losses tonight when D. Cease toes the rubber versus T. Bibee of the Guardians. The Sox lead the Cubs 7-2 after 4 innings and went on to lose 10-7 and hopefully have finally hit rock bottom and can only go up going forward. Tonight's starter D. Cease has really looked sharp of his last 2 starts (11 IP, 2 ER & 15 K) and will be making his 3rd start versus the Guardians, he pitched well in the previous 2. Bibee for the Guardians hasn't had much success on the road this season with a 4.38 ERA and the team losing 5 of his 7 road starts. I like Cease's success to continue tonight with the White Sox winning by multiple runs.
