San Diego Padres -1.5 +107
The Padres look to take G2 of this series after winning the opener last night 6-5. It will be M. Clevinger on the mound versus A. Gomber; Clevinger has been a road warrior so far this season as the Friars have won all 4 of his starts with his road ERA that sits at 1.93. For the Rockies Gomber hasn’t had any success whether it be on the road or at home as his ERA sits at over 6.00. The Padres should be able to score multiple runs and win this game tonight with relative ease.
SF Giants -1.5 -103
The Giants look to even this series at a game apiece after losing the opener last night to the DBacks 4-3. It will be a total mismatch on the mound when D. Keuchel faces L. Webb; nothing has really changed for Keuchel since he joined the DBacks after being released by the White Sox. He hasn’t pitched and teams are scoring a lot of runs off him. For the Giants L. Webb continues to pitch well at Oracle Park, the team is 7-2 in his home starts with several of those victories by 2 runs or more. I cannot see Keuchel shutting down the Giants offense tonight.
NY Mets/Atlanta Braves U8.5 -118
The Mets and Braves play G2 of this series tonight, last night was a pitchers’ duel between M. Scherzer and M. Fried and I expect more of the same tonight between D. Petersen and S. Strider. Strider in his last 7 starts has an ERA of 2.43 with 5 of those games going under the total. Petersen has pitched well on the road this season with an ERA of 3.11, also helping the cause for the under tonight will be A. Fletcher behind home plate. He clearly favors pitchers as the under is 13-2 in the 15 games with him behind home plate, National League games umpired by him are 8-0 to the under with an average of less than 6 runs scored per game.
Chicago White Sox -1.5 -103 (G2)
The Sox and Guardians will be playing a day night doubleheader today. G2 pits D. Cease versus K. Pilkington on the mound. I expect Cease to be in top form and pitch with a chip on his shoulder after being snubbed from the All-Star team; he leads the AL in K/9 at 13.01 while sitting in the top 5 in ERA and fWAR. There is no reason why he shouldn’t have been selected. The Sox shouldn’t have issues scoring on Pilkington who hasn’t pitched well since joining the Guardians rotation.
