Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 +174

After playing their first 10 games of the 2024 season on the road, the Jays finally get to play their home opener tonight. They host the Mariners and it will be L. Castillo versus J. Berrios on the mound. Castillo has really struggled through 2 starts so far not reaching the 6th inning in either while give up 4 ER in each game. The Jays counter with Berrios who's look great versus the Rays and Astros giving up only 3 ER over 12 innings both resulting in Jays victories. The Mariners starters continue to struggle and put them behind the 8 ball early and often though the first 10 games. The Rogers Centre will be rocking tonight and I like the Jays to continue to cause Castillo problems and win this game by multiple runs.

Houston Astros -135

The Astros finally won a game versus the Rangers in their 4 game series last night as R. Blanco flirted with another no hitter, tonight their ace F. Valdez looks to be able to let the Astros leave Arlington with a split of the series. Valdez rebounded nicely after a so so opening day start versus the Yanks and pitched 7 2/3 solid shutout innings versus the Jays. The Rangers counter with A. Heaney on the mound who also pitched well but not well enough to get the win versus the Rays in his first start of the season. The Astros offense woke up a bit last night in their win and look to build on that tonight, I like the Astros with the better pitcher on the mound to leave this series with a split.

Detroit Tigers/Pittsburgh Pirates U8.5 -110

Don't look now but the Tigers and Pirates are having great starts to their 2024 season, the Tigers are 6-3 while the Pirates are a surprising 8-2. This will be a mini 2 game series between them, the Tigers send R. Olson to the mound to face M. Keller. Olson was really solid versus the Mets pitching 5 2/3 shutout inning while Keller struggled versus the Nats giving up 4 ER over 5 1/3 IP. I don't put too much stock into pitchers first starts of the season especially when they get roughed up as the weather is not always ideal and even though they're professionals, there are always opening day jitters. Keller is back at PNC Park today when his ERA was under 3.00 last season. I think he can limit the Tigers chances to score runs so like the under in this game between the Tigers and Pirates.
