The Sabres are in Columbus to face the Blue Jackets for the final game of both teams for the 2022-2023. Talking about having motivation to lose a game, the Jackets will move from 31st overall to 29th overall if they beat the Sabres and drop their percentage of winning the first overall draft pick from to single digits instead of 13.5% where they sit now. When you have a chance at landing C. Bedard, you do what you have to do to lose this game. The Jackets are starting J. Gilles and that should explain enough for tonight, he’s got a 4.61 GAA and a .846 save percentage. The Jackets are not winning tonight.

Colorado Avalanche -.5 -130 (regulation)

The Avs are another team with serious motivation tonight; a win tonight will secure them the Central division and home ice advantage for the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. The Preds are just finishing the season and their players will be going through the motions and I don’t expect a tough battle on their part. The Avs are not the healthiest at the moment but will take this game as they are highly motivated to get home ice advantage.

Colorado Rockies/Seattle Mariners O8.5 -101

The Rockies and Mariners start a weekend series tonight in Seattle. It will be a battle of lefties between A. Gomber and M. Gonzales; neither has been particularly sharp through 2 starts. Gomber has actually continued in the same fashion as he did last season and that is that he isn’t a very good pitcher, he has an ERA hovering around 6.00 while Gonzales is your typical soft tossing lefty that will give up his 3-4 per start. This game has the writing on the wall of a 6-5 or 7-6 final.
