Val's WTA Madrid Finals Play

Val

We have a no action with our Lehecka play as he had to withdraw in the 1st set with a back injury, today we have a play for the woman's Final.

Record 34-41 (-9.73 units)

Iga Swiatek -1.5 sets -106 (Risk 2.12 for 2 units) Expected start time 12:30pm EST May 4th

Madrid gets the matchup they hoped for when this tournament started when #1 seeded I. Swiatek faces #2 seed A. Sabalenka this afternoon, Swiatek and Sabalenka are respectively ranked #1 & #2 on the WTA Tour as well.  These two women have reached this stage in very different ways. Swiatek has only dropped one set so far, which came against Beatriz Haddad Maia. By contrast, four of Sabalenka’s victories in Madrid have been in the deciding set. This includes her thrilling semifinal win over Elena Rybakina, who served for the match at 5-4 in the second set, but Sabalenka somehow managed to fight back and triumph 1-6 7-5 7-6. This is also a rematch of last year's Madrid Open Finals when Sabalenka beat Swiatek, which is the only time Sabalenka has beaten Swiatek on a clay surface in four matches. Even though Sabalenka won that match last year, Swiatek is the much more accomplished clay court player and will have the advantage here, I like her to take this match in straight sets as she has in all 3 of her clay court victories versus Sabalenka.
