Val's ATP Rome Semifinal Play

Record 34-43 (-12.85 units)

Nicolas Jarry/Tommy Paul O23.5 games even (Risk 2 for 2 units) Expected start time 2:30pm EST May 17th

Chilean N. Jarry and American T. Paul meet in one of the semifinal matches this afternoon in Rome. It is safe to say that very few if any tennis savants expected these two players to reach this point of this tournament with names like Medvedev, De Minaur, Tsitsipas & Hurkacz on their side of the bracket. With that being said both players have been impressive in Rome, Jarry beat two home favorites in M. Arnaldi and S. Napolitano on their home soil which is never easy and then followed that up with an impressive 3 set win over Tsitsipas who was playing his best tennis of the year so far. Paul has been equally impressive with back to back wins over Medvedev and Hurkacz in the 4th round and quarters. The two have played twice in the past on clay with each winning a match, the one theme that was constant in both is that both were long matches, last year at the French open that went 4 sets and the other that went 3 sets with 38 games played. I expect another lengthy match here with over 23.5 games the play.
