OVERALL RECORD: 43-45-2, -3.38u
RECAP: We’re on the negative side of a bad MLB of the Day streak, while our PRO plays are still winning. We gain about a unit on the day thanks to a nice little plus-money winner in Seattle, who tore up Hunter Brown, and our MLB of the Day pushed due to eight total runs being scored in the game. It looked good at the start, but then things just fell apart towards the end of the game, and we were lucky to grab a push. On to today, where we’ll look to continue to get out of this hole!

You’re telling me that a rookie is making his MLB debut in Citizens Bank Park against the hottest offense in the league? Oh, and that offense has the (probable) Cy Young frontrunner pitching for them today against an anemic offense that hasn’t been able to jumpstart ANYTHING this season? Huh.
Zach Wheeler has been everything the Phillies have needed from him and more, and he literally ranks first in total pitcher value this season, according to Baseball Savant. At home this season, he’s sporting a WHIP of .86 and has only allowed five total earned runs through over 24 innings of work through four games. That’s a quality start every single time he’s hit the mound at home this season.
Our Sharp App Money Handles tool loves this play early as well, hitting only 33% of the total bets placed on this game on the spread, but then raking in a whopping 98% of the total money on this game. We’re even getting it at +108, and I can pretty much guarantee that when people wake up, this number will be close to -105 or so before game time.
Mason Black is on the mound for the Giants, and he’s been really dominant in AAA this season, sporting an ERA of .98 over six starts. While that’s super impressive, he’s facing an offense that gets on base 30% of the time at home and puts up between 5-6 runs on average. And get this: in their last five games against righties at home, they’re averaging close to nine runs per game. NINE RUNS!
The Giants, while they’ve been struggling on the road, have been formidable at hitting the ball, but their road pitching has just been so bad this season. Overall, the Giants are 6-13 on the road this season.
The Phillies are 8-3 in game one’s so far this season, and they’ve gotten off on the right foot in most series so far; they’re one of the hottest teams in baseball, and there’s no reason to think they won’t tee off of this rookie pitcher making his first start in one of the hardest home ballparks in the league. Phillies by two.
PICK: Philadelphia Phillies -1.5
