RECAP: What a disaster of an MLB of the Day, where Spencer Areghetti absolutely lit up the Seattle offense to a point to where the Astros did all of the damage, and we didn’t even come close to hitting over seven runs in that game. The Astros did their job, but Seattle just cannot be trusted. We have a full slate today, and I’m pumped to get into my favorite bet of today!

Anytime I get to go against the worst pitcher in the league, we have to absolutely take it - and Sixto Sanchez is really, really bad. Plus, the Marlins have been absolutely horrible in the first game of their series’ so far this season, and they’re also a sportsbook liability. That’s why we have to rely on the bats of the Rangers to take us home tonight.
Sixto Sanchez is going to get some writing time about him because of how bad he is at home - through six starts at home this season, he’s allowed 11 runs over 13 innings. In the month of May, he has a WHIP of 1.58, which is an IMPROVEMENT from his disastrous April. He also hasn’t faced a single good offense over his last four starts, and it’s going to come crumbling down today.
The Rangers can’t be too confident in their guy either, as Jose Urena is taking the mound for Texas - but he’s been pretty bad on the road this season. I have confidence in him though, because he gets the ball on the ground (he’s in the 83rd percentile for GB%) and he pumps gas. Additionally, the month of May has been pretty good to Urena, as he’s allowed 13 runs over 23 innings and has gone at least five innings deep in each of his last four starts.
Miami is 4-14 in the first game of the series so far this season, and are 2-8 in the first game of the series after coming off of a win. This is a bet that has hit 80% of the time so far this season. And these Rangers bats have been potent this season on the road against righties, getting on base 32% of the time and scoring nearly six runs per game. While they’ve struggled as of late, it seems like too good of an opportunity to pass up on the favorite.
Both of these bullpens are well-rested, and we may need them; especially if these two pitchers get off of the rails, I trust Texas’ bullpen more than Miami’s to get the job done. The books need Miami, and that’s a bad sign for faders of the MLB of the Day. Hammer Texas.
PICK: Texas Rangers ML
