OVERALL RECORD: 84-86-4, -6.67u
RECAP: And just like that, a massacre has hit the MLB of the Day community. We go 0-4 yesterday to put us in our deepest slump of the season, and I’m reaching unbearable levels of horror. Our MLB of the Day goes off by one run as the Braves couldn’t push across anything besides one hit all game, and we lose our other three plays by just a couple of runs combined. Good luck today!

The Chicago White Sox have lost thirteen straight games and are on the worst stretch of the MLB season for any team. They look miserable, lost, and demoralized after two straight one-run losses to their crosstown rival, and today, they welcome the Red Sox to town, and one of my favorite pitchers on the planet.
If Tanner Houck has no fans, then I’m dead. He’s one of the best away pitchers in the league, and this Red Sox pitching staff should dominate the White Sox in this series. The White Sox are 1-13 in the first game of the series coming off of a loss this season, and that’s the exact scenario Houck finds himself pitching against.
Houck has a WHIP of .90 on the road, and has only allowed five earned runs through 31 innings pitched away from his home ballpark. Houck doesn’t walk anyone and while he’s been relatively unlucky this season (real ERA is 1.85, xERA is just under four), his expected numbers still jump off the page as dominant.
On the other side, Jake Woodford will be pitching for the White Sox, and he was less than dominant in his first start of the season. While he was with the Cardinals last year, he was batting practice for most teams, with an xERA over seven - and that means that we could EXPECT teams to score seven runs on him per nine innings.
This Red Sox offense is just about as hot as you can find, scoring nearly seven runs per game over their last five games, and getting on base over 37% of the time. Coming off of a series in which they battled hard, they should find some solace in bringing their bats to a much easier environment, and a series that they really need to sweep in order to get back into the race in the AL East. Over their last ten games, this White Sox pitching staff is allowing a WHIP of 1.63 – you might as well put two batters on base every inning. The Red Sox will capitalize on that.
This White Sox team’s offense is abysmal as well, hitting just .178 against righties over their last ten games and putting across just over two runs per game. Let’s capitalize, and the Red Sox should win by way more than two.
PICK: Red Sox -1.5
