OVERALL RECORD: 124-130-5, -5.85u
RECAP: While we had a lot of bad beats yesterday, it all comes out in the wash, as we lose just over two units on the day in the MLB. Close calls don’t matter, as we lose our MLB of the Day by one run, our Team Total Parlay by one team, and some late-inning heroics cancel out our other two PRO bets. We literally only hit one play yesterday. Sundays can do that to you, and we have to bounce back this month! New dawn, new day. Let’s get it.

July 1st, 2024

Since we don’t have many games to choose from, and lines have already been moving wonky as the day goes on, we have to turn to a more specific bet that I’ve had my eye on today, and it’s the No Run First Inning bet for the Mets and Nationals game, which you can get for around -130 at most books.

Mackenzie Gore is a first inning fiend, as he hasn’t allowed a run in the first inning in 13/16 games this season – and it’s by far his most dominant inning this season, allowing just twelve hits and has accumulated 26 strikeouts in the first during his games. While the New York Mets are more apt to score in the first inning on the road, they overall score in the first inning in just under half of their games, averaging .48 runs in the first inning this season.

While they don’t have to travel far, they played in a grueling, 11-inning, rain-delay filled game yesterday and it’s sure to keep them cold as they begin their trek to win this series.

David Peterson is on the mound for the Mets, and he’ll be looking to keep Washington’s offense at bay. He has yet to allow a run in the first inning in his campaign this season, going five for five in those chances, and he’s been an ace on the road; he’s allowing a WHIP of 1.11 on the road this season, and a WHIP of .80 in the first inning. Most games, he won’t even allow a hit in the first inning. That’s how dominant he’s been.

And this Washington offense isn’t anything to be proud of in the first. They’re the worst first-inning scoring team in the league this season, pushing across just .23 runs per first inning this season. They’re pushing across just a tad bit better (.25 runs) at home, but this is historically an offense that gets off to a slow start.

Our feet will get wet in July with a weird bet, but there’s not going to be a run pushed across in the first inning of this game. Between Washington’s lack of offense, and Mackenzie Gore being a first-inning fiend, we’ve got this one.

PICK: NYM / WAS No Run First Inning
