NBA Bet of the Day | January 8, 2024

In this column, I’ll go through the BEST BET I’m seeing in the league today; this can be in a spread, a moneyline, an Over/Under, or a player prop.

Our NBA of the Day was on track to win, and then just absolutely crumbled in the second half and fourth quarter of the Nets game, giving them just their second ATS loss when being a home favorite. You’re telling me to bet on the Utah Jazz? You bet I am. And we’re seeing some significant value in not only the way that they’re playing, but the players that are out for Milwaukee. 

Damian Lillard isn’t playing, and that leaves a huge hole in this Milwaukee offense. Khris Middleton hasn’t been the player that he’s always been, and there’s very few offensive outlets that the Bucks can turn to, sans Giannis. And while I think that the Bucks still pull it off, we’ve seen this line dropping a ton throughout the day today. 

The line opened at Utah +11, and then Dame’s absence dropped it to +8.5. The Sharps then got ahold of it, and dropped it down to +8 at some books - and we’re seeing the same from our Sharp App Money Handles tool.

Our Sharp AI has this game at +7.5, so we’re even getting a full point of cushion. We’re going to see a lot of late money in on this game - and we’re already seeing it. The Jazz hold 34% of the betting handle, but are rocking at a cool 58% of the money handle - that’s good for a difference of 24%, even at that +8 number. If you have a book that has 8.5, it’s absolutely a hammer.

The Jazz have been on an absolute tear recently, covering the spread in a whopping 34 of their last 54 total games. When the spread is below 10, we’re seeing the Utah Jazz cover the spread at a great rate - and while the Jazz haven’t been the pinnacle of excellence this season away from home, they have been extremely good ATS, hitting at a 55% rate. 

Finally, if you look at their last five offensive numbers, they’ve looked great since Jordan Clarkson has returned to the lineup. Keyonte George has been good in spells, but Clarkson is the main attraction - and in their last ten games, they’re 7-3 ATS. 

Overall, we’re looking at a spot that may make some of you uncomfortable since we aren’t taking a favorite - but I promise you, the Jazz are for real, and without Dame Lillard, the Bucks are going to have some trouble scoring at their usual proficiency. The Jazz are in the top half of the league in most offensive categories over their last five, and the Bucks have been spiraling. Take the Jazz with the cushion.
