NBA Bet of the Day | 6-1 Run | December 8, 2023

RECAP: This has been an awesome run in the NBA, as we’re 6-1 over the last two days betting in the NBA. I was so close to pulling Lakers last night, but I never got the chance to, and we ended up winning both of our bets - including a plus-money Myles Turner play straight from the Proptimizer. Absolutely enormous slate tonight, so let’s get into my favorite one.

One of my favorite strategies that you’ll see me employ when using the Money Handles tool is to bet favorites early, especially if there’s an indication that the line is going to continue to move. And tonight, we’re betting on a big favorite very early, because I anticipate this line continuing to build as the day moves along. 

Tonight, the 76ers host the Atlanta Hawks in a matchup between two teams that have fared pretty well in the early season, making it an enticing game that will be bet on heavily tonight. I was able to get to this line right when it dropped because of the value on it, and in some books, it’s already climbed. 

Sharp AI has this game at the 76ers being favored by -8, which is just above where we’re seeing the line right now. As well, our Sharp App Money Handles tool is all over this favorite, with 82% of all money being placed on the home team. Yet, when you look at the number of bet distributions across the sports books, the 76ers only have around 40% of the handle - that’s a difference of over 40% in the money handles tool. That’s exactly what we’re looking for. 

And the line is continuing to move that way, and for good measure. The Hawks are 5-15 ATS this season, while the Philly team is 13-7 ATS, good for top five in the league. When you look at them as the home team, they’re just as dominant, going 7-3 ATS. Atlanta is 4-6 ATS on the road. 

In their last matchup a couple of weeks ago, the 76ers won by 10 at home, and it was on the back of this dominant offense. In their last five games, they’re ninth in total offense and top five in 3-point shooting - they create a million chances for their shooters, and Atlanta’s team defense is bottom-five in the league, allowing opposing teams to shoot over 50% from the field. The 76ers are a top-three scoring team, and Atlanta is a bottom-four defensive team in allowing points. And granted, Atlanta can score too, don’t get me wrong - they rank second in total scoring - but this 76ers defensive team clamps up in the back-half of the game, ranking in the top half of the league in 3rd Quarter and 4th Quarter defense. 

Let’s take the 76ers in what should be an incredibly exciting matchup offensively. But even with all of that offense, our money handles love the 76ers, and I do too - hammer them.
