Mitch's NBA Bet of the Day | November 3, 2023

RECAP: Wow, that was rough. Truthfully, in the history of me being at the Sharp App, it might be the most wrong I’ve ever been on an Bet of the Day. It didn’t help that Tyrese Haliburton was announced as out an hour before the game, but I’m really not sure it would have mattered, as I’ve never seen a team score so efficiently as the Celtics did two nights ago. Bravo to them, as we go 1-2 for the day on Wednesday, but then make up for it last night, going 1-0 in my PRO plays.

PICK: Cleveland Cavaliers -3
I’ve been burned on this pick before, and it’ll probably happen again; but I just love the defensive prowess of this Cavaliers team, and I think that there’s definitely something to be said about how consistent Donovan Mitchell has been to begin the season, and how inconsistent the Pacers have been to begin the season. 

Either that, or I just have a personal vendetta against the Pacers for losing by forty last game. 

That being said, these defensive numbers for the Pacers are inflated, but their defense needs to get it together if they’re going to be a consistent playoff team. The Cavs are 2-0 so far this season on the road, and last season, they went 13-3 against the Central Division. That’s a great mark, especially because the Central is so weak - and these Cavs are experienced enough to capitalize on it. 

Plus, in the Sharp App, our tools indicate the Cavs all the way. Only 60% of the bets placed are on the Cavs, which is relatively low for a favorite; yet, 84% of the handle is on them. As well, our Sharp App AI projects this game to be Cavs -4, so we’re seeing value in this line being at -110. 

While the Cavs have been bad against the spread, that has to hit some positive regression here soon. They got pummeled by the Pacers just a few days ago, and they know the game plan now; this Cavs defense holds opposing offenses to under the league average for FG percentage, while the Pacers are above that, and there are real matchup nightmares, especially if the Cavs have their full lineup ready to go. Garland is getting back into play time tonight, and Caris LeVert is starting to solidify himself once again as a bench nightmare. 

The Pacers simply don’t have the depth to keep up with this Cavs team, and I believe that the Cavs will seek that revenge from their last matchup; plus, the Pacers just got blown out. Don’t expect them to be coming back on all cylinders.
