Tough loss today as the Monfils Zhang match went to a 3rd set tiebreaker which Monfils eventually won, Zhang had his opportunities to win this match but just couldn't convert his opportunities,

One of the quarterfinal matches will have Czech M. Vondrousova facing Romanian S. Cirstea. From a record standpoint neither has been dominant this season as Vondrousova is 4-3 while CIrstea is only 6-5. Before her win this morning versus L. Samsonova, Vondrousova had not beaten a player ranked inside #65 on tour. Cirstea has faired much better as she has beaten 3 players ranked #21 or better, two of which M. Sakkari and V. Kudermotova are within the top 10. These two have faced each 3 times in the last 3 years, once on interior hard court and the other two on regular hard court with Cirstea winning the last 2 meetings. Cirstea has played tougher competition and looked better than Vondrousova in this tournament so I will gladly back her at plus money.
