Two youngsters face off today in Paris when American B. Shelton faces Canadian FA Aliassime. Both have faced a little adversity reaching the 3rd round, as Shelton needed 4 sets to dispose of his 1st round opponent Frenchman H. Gaston while Aliassime needed 4 sets to beat German H. Squire. I'm somewhat concerned that Aliassime needed 4 sets to beat the #209 ranked player in the world in Squire and could be in trouble here versus the hard hitting Shelton today. Shelton has developed his clay court game over the last year and can now beat top level players on the surface. Even though Aliassime is playing better of late, clay is not his most successful surface to play on. I like Shelton to cause Aliassime plenty of issues with his hard serve and topspin shots. I like Shelton to at least win 2 sets in this match.
