American C. Gauff faces Britain's E. Raducanu while most of us will be sleeping tonight in the women's second round of the Aussie Open. Raducanu is far from the player she was when she shocked the world and won the US open in 2021. Many felt that that victory was going to be a spring board to a dominant career going forward, don't get me wrong, she has plenty of time to accomplish that as she's only 20 years old but here 2021 season was ordinary at best as she was 17-19 overall on all surfaces. She even had a losing record on hard court (10-11) wish is her best surface to play on. C. Gauff has come out the gates flying in 2023 winning every match she's played (6-0) and has yet to drop a set in 2023. She seems as focused as ever to make 2023 her best year as a professional. I expect Gauff to take care of business in straight sets as Raducanu has fallen a little of the map.

Jiri Lehecka -1.5 sets -104 (Start time apx midnight EST)

Czech's J. Lehecka faces American C. Eubanks in the second round of the men's draw. The 21 year old Lehecka made some noise in 2022 winning several matches and even topped Germany's A. Zverev (former top 10 player) in late December. Lehecka was also part of the Next Gen Tournament in Milan Italy in November 2022 where he surprised many making it to the Finals before losing a tight match to eventual Champion B. Nakashima. His opponent C. Eubanks can be considered a journeyman tennis player at this point of his career, he's 26 years old and has never been ranked higher than his current ranking of #116. I do not seem him causing too many issues for Lehecka tonight and expect a straight set victory, worse case 4 sets which would still be a winner.
