Last night we had the winner in Miami as the Heat blew out the Magic in the second half to secure our victory in the NBA of the Day, and then we got hooked by the total in Utah by .5 point to lose -.12u on the day. A half a point keeps us from the sweep, but we move!
February 8, 2024We’ve finally approached the trade deadline, and we’re seeing some significant movement on some totals in the NBA. Hopefully we can get back to some stability as we enter the final half of the season, especially with teams finally getting their final squad together.
Tonight we have two playoff-bound teams ready to duke it out in Los Angeles, as the Lakers take on the Denver Nuggets on their home court. We’ve seen an up-and-down season out of the Lakers, while the Nuggets are ready to pounce off of the trade deadline and into the final stretch.
Tonight, we have some solid money handles throughout the league, but we’re going to focus on the total in this game. We’re looking at the under in this game, as there is only 37% of the bets placed on the under in this game, but a great 67% of the handle on the money here, good for a difference of 30%.
The total sits at 231 points right now, but we’ve seen the line fluctuate. We began at 229, and then pulled all the way up past 231, and then resonated back at 231 on the day. Our projections at the Sharp App are looking at a total of around 230, and that gives us a little wiggle room on the total in what should be a close game overall.
We have a possibility of stars sitting tonight, and the total will continue to drop if or when that happens. When that happens, it’s important for us to grab these lines earlier than normal.
Plus, the Lakers have not been stellar at home this season, and we’re seeing it in their trends. As the home underdog, the under is 4-1 on the season; they simply don’t score well at home. And we see the same thing in an away Denver team; Denver is 7-13 on the season on the Over, and that means we’re ripe for the under.
Simply put, don’t expect a whole lot of points in the late game tonight. Especially if stars sit, then we’re going to see this total drop. Take the under, my friends! PICK: Denver / Los Angeles under 231
