In this column, Mitch goes through the BEST BET he's seeing in the NBA today.

In this column, I’ll go through the BEST BET I’m seeing in the league today; this can be in a spread, a moneyline, an Over/Under, or a player prop. I’ll explain my reasoning below, and even add in a couple of picks I also like for today.

RECAP: Welcome to the NBA Season, my friends. Last season, we gained over 60 units on all of our season-long plays, primarily using the Sharp App Money Handles tool to find the top value in the NBA’s season. This season we’ll be following the same path, while also using the Proptimizer to find value in player props as well. We have one play on opening night, so let’s get into it.

Am I missing something? The Minnesota Timberwolves are heading to Los Angeles to take on an unchanged LA Lakers team, headlined by Anthony Davis and Lebron James. The new-look Timberwolves, headlined by Anthony Edwards and new-forward Julius Randle are looking to build on their campaign last season that saw them nearly reach the pinnacle of the NBA world.

Sharp AI believes that the wrong team is favored in this matchup, as predictive AI sides with Minnesota at 51%. And while that’s not overall too convincing for me, looking at the scoring rate of these teams is crucial to me.

Last season in the final matchup between these teams saw the Wolves come into LA and stomp on this team, and they won three of four last season. Minnesota’s overall margin of victory last season was over six points, among the highest in the league; and as an away team, they thrived, covering in 57% of their games. LA lost most of their games ATS at home last season, winning just 46% of those games.

In fact, when Minnesota was favored last season, they won by an average of four points. And while the Lakers were good ATS as the underdog, they still lost by an average of four points in that scenario. Rest was their kryptonite too, as they struggled all season to get off the ground.

Plus, the addition of Dante Divencenzo is my X-Factor in this game. Minnesota hasn’t been able to move the ball as efficiently as they’d like to in past seasons, and now they add one of the more prolific spot-up shooters in the league, and one of the best passing big-men in the game in Randle.

Minnesota thrived on the road last season, and all they have to do is win by two. I think that Randle and company look to make a statement in their first win, while Redick and company are looking to get Bronny James some minutes. Gimme the Wolves.

PICK: Minnesota Timberwolves -1
