The Nuggets got HOOKED by a half of a point in last night’s game; but PRO members made up for it, grabbing the under in the New Orleans game. But it’s just devastating when things like that happen; it was the right play all along, just a tough circumstance as the Nuggets couldn’t fully put away the Blazers. On to today!
February 3, 2024There’s an absolute menace in this particular game, where the Golden State Warriors are heading out to Atlanta to take on the Hawks at home. Both of these teams came out with wins yesterday, with the Warriors beating the Grizzlies and the Hawks beating the Suns. The Hawks are on a huge homestand, but here’s why I believe that the Warriors could play spoiler today.
There aren’t many situations when the Warriors are away underdogs. In general, they’re favored in close lines because they’ve got their stars and the general allure of the league; but truth be told, they’re a pretty average team. Except when it comes to this exact scenario we’re seeing tonight.
This season, the Warriors have been underdogs on the road twelve times; in those twelve games, they’ve covered the spread nine of those twelve times. This bet is hitting at a 75% rate this season, and we’re seeing it in the money handles as well.
The Warriors currently own only 38% of the bets, but a crazy 89% of the handle, giving us a difference of 51%. That’s really big, considering that our Sharp AI has this game as a -2 for the Hawks, so we’re getting a half point of breathing room in this game. As well, in most cases, most books are showing that +2.5 that we’re looking for in this one.
The Warriors cover on the road really well, and it’s their scoring numbers that are pushing them to be one of the most dominant teams in the league on the road. They score nearly 120 points per game on the road, and the Hawks are the second-worst home team in the league on defense, allowing over 130 points per game. The Dubs are also the second-best rebounding team on the road, and they score the ball really effectively.
The Hawks are also one of the top teams in the league at home at scoring, but the Warriors play really good first half defense and as of late, they’ve been able to control the tempo of most games.
The kicker? On the second game of a back-to-back, the Hawks are 1-7 on the season against the spread. That’s just nuts.
Everything is pointing towards the Hawks choking this one, but we’ll take the wiggle room. Grab the Warriors and the points. PICK: Golden State Warriors +2.5
