Val's WTA Indian Wells Open Play Round 1 Day 2

Our play from yesterday P. Badosa is a no action as she withdrew from the tournament hours before her match. Today we head back to the WTA for our play.

K. Pliskova of the Czech Republic takes on Russian A. Blinkova in the 1st round of the Indian Wells Open late this afternoon. Rain delays pushed back several of yesterday's matches to today, so it will be a full day of matches going on.  After battling injuries for several years it looks like the the former #1 ranked Pliskova is rounding back into form winning a tournament in Romania (Cluj-Napoca) at the beginning of February and then reaching the semis in Qatar (Doha) a week later. Her movement on court has been better and you cannot deny she's still one of the best power players on the WTA even at age 31. Her opponent Blinkova has talent but has been unable to put it all together consistently over long periods of time, proof being that she hasn't had a winning record on hard court surface since 2019. I like the veteran Pliskova to dominate the inconsistent Blinkova today.
