Mac Jones Over 249.5 Pass Yards & Over 1.5 Pass TDs on 10/24 +350
Mac Jones returns tonight after missing the last three games due to injury. Backup Bailey Zappe did a phenomenal job filling in. The pressure is on Jones to perform with New England knowing what Zappe can do. Before getting injured Mac Jones compiled 786 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 5 interecptions. If Jones struggles upon his return the Patriots will no doubt have a quarterback controversy on their hands. Until then, it's Jones' job to lose. Jones faces a Bears defense secondary that ranks 30th in the league. The Sharp App has New England as -8 favorites to win.
Analysis: Mac Jones is returning from injury and now has competition in the form of Bailey Zappe. The Bears are horrible on defense but New England is a very conservative team and once they have a comfortable lead they will look to run the ball and chew time off the clock. More importantly: Jones has not had one multiple touchdown game this season and has more interceptions than he does touchdowns.
Justin Fields Records Passing TD & Rushing TD on 10/24 +500
Justin Fields had a slow start to the season but over the past 2 weeks has been getting the passing game going. Fields has 869 passing yards, 4 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. On the ground Fields has rushed for 254 yards and a touchdown while fumbling 7 times granted only one was lost. Fields and the Bears have been a run heavy team all year but if they want to be competitive and even win they need to open up the passing game. The Sharp App has Chicago as +8.5 underdogs.
Analysis: Fields is facing one of the top defenses but they have struggled against mobile quarterbacks. In week 3 Lamar Jackson gashed the Patriots defense for 107 yards and a touchdown. While we all know Fields is no where near as good as Jackson, the fact remains that Fields can run the ball.
David Montgomery & Rhamondre Stevenson Each Over 59.5 Rushing Yards on 10/24 +330
David Montgomery is overrated in my opinion. Montgomery is only averaging 49.2 rushing yards per game whereas his backup Khalil Herbert is averaging 67 rushing yards per game. I think Chicago is overlooking Herbert's abilities and what he brings to the offense. Montgomery has been banged up this year but still, with Herbert in the backfield the Bears have been a better offensive unit.
Rhamondre Stevenson is a beast. He can catch the ball, is a powerful runner who can make cuts, and can successfully block his quarterback. While Damien Harris is listed as the starter New England knows Dre is good and I think he will end up supplanting Harris as the #1 guy in the backfield. Stevenson has rushed for 448 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also has 84 receiving yards and is garnering 3.14 targets per game.
Analysis: I can see Stevenson easily rushing for over 59.5 yards but The Patriots defense is one of the best in the league and are coming off a game where they held the leagues leading rusher Nick Chubb to only 56 rushing yards. Montgomery is less likely to go over 59.5 rushing yards. I can easily see Fields being the Bears leading rusher tonight.
Jakobi Meyers & Tyquan Thornton Each Score TD on 10/24 +850
Jakobi Myers has been injury plagued this year. When he has been on the field Myers is the go-to guy in the passing game. Jakobi has played four games this season and has accrued 321 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Myers is getting 7.75 targets per game. The Patriots have been playing with the lead lately which has limited the opportunities for any New England receiver to put up a monster game. It is worth noting that Myers only touchdown on the season was from quarterback Mac Jones in week 1.
New England selected Tyquan Thornton in the 2nd round of the 2022 draft to help a depleted wide receiver corps. This year, Thornton has 6 catches for 44 yards and 1 touchdown while also rushing for a touchdown. Tyquan is establishing himself as Red Zone target and that is something the Patriots need desperately. Thornton has only played 2 games so far and is averaging 4 targets per game.
Analysis: The Patriots are a run first offense and have only had one game this year where they have thrown multiple touchdowns. While Jakobi Myers is Mac Jones go-to guy, Tyquan Thornton has never played with Jones in a regular season game and needs to build some rapport him. I don't foresee both catching a touchdown. Maybe one but definitely not both.
DeVante Parker First TD Scorer vs Bears on 10/24 +1000
DeVante Parker has 12 catches for 253 yards and one touchdown. Parker is only getting 4 targets per game and while he is listed as WR2 on the depth chart his number are more of a WR3 or 4. The Patriots just aren't a pass heavy team. The most pass attempts the Patriots have had in one game was 35. While the Bears secondary is second rate Bill Belichick is a conservative coach and this game has the feeling of run heavy game script.
Analysis: Devante Parker does not get enough attention in this offense to be able to trust him to score a touchdown let alone the first one of the game. Betting is about taking valuable calculated risks not throwing away money. In my opinion, I don't see Parker scoring a touchdown at all.
