Overnight Grind : Market Makers VS Sharps September 29 2022

While most of us are sleeping, Market Makers and Sharps are adjusting the markets so that by the time we wake up and are ready to bet, the markets have adjusted in favour of the sportsbook. Let's take a quick look at some games where the sportsbooks had to make some adjustments based on heavy sharp interest.

Market Makers are sportsbooks that are the first to post a line and set the market. They will control risk by lowering their bet limits when posting a spread or Moneyline before everyone else. Once the market adjusted, they max their bet limits. Talbot has been hot and won his last 8 starts but don't discount Jarry he's been solid this year.

RECAP: Jays took a beating, the Brewers are up by 1 in the 7th and the Marlins are tied. Ill update in the morning! UPDATED: Marlins lost in extra innings and the Brewers took the W.

We look for sharps to be much more active in MLB now that the NHL and NBA seasons are over however this is not the sport that sharps are the most excited about since market makers tend to have very low max limits early on most of the games due to many variables in MLB. Weather is one of them and probably the most important.

For VIPs, your best start would be to look at the morning sharp report, which will give you an excellent summary of what happened overnight. In the afternoon, the sharp report updates and games might be added or removed based on what happened in the morning. The last update is around 4-5 pm EST and not much movement is expected after that. If there is movement, it will usually be square money loading up on games before they start.

Another tool that can be used with the sharp report is the MLB model on our website. Comparing the sharp money with our projection can help you make your own picks if both the model and sharp agree.

The format of this article will be changed once we will have multiple sports running every day and the focus will go back to looking at lines that moved the most overnight.

Finally, we have some football. Yes, I am also getting tired of baseball.

The truth about the line movement in the Dolphins game. Betonline was first to open the line at -3 for Cincinnati however 5Dimes opened their line at -1 15 minutes later and Betonline adjusted to -1 also This was on the 20th. Since the 22nd, the line progressively moved up to -2, -2.5, -3 on the 25th, -3.5 on the 26th, and -4.5 this morning. Sharps moved the line to -3 and at that point, the handle was at 89% for the Bengals. Public money started pouring and the book was really looking for some Miami money and for about 20 minutes this morning, Betonline posted a -4.5. With the news that Tau was probable and then confirmed, the line sat at -4 for most of the day and dropped to -3.5 around 10 pm. The book is finally getting that Miami money they were looking for. It will be interesting to see what happens overnight. All the sharp money is on the Bengals. We have 1 sharp that placed a bet on Miami at +4.5.

UPDATE:

I don't have much interest CFB tonight however we will cover both games quickly.

Betonline opened South Carolina at -41.5, 5 Dimes a t 36.5. The line is currently at -38 at BOL and -39.5 at 5Dimes. Big numbers haven't been doing well this season and I am not touching this game.

BUY opened at -24.5 and it's now at -24. There was not much movement on this line. There is no sharp money (on both games) The total did move a little. It opened at 61 and then dropped to 59.5

MLB

10-game slate in baseball today!!

Except for the Seattle game NOTHING is moving. Texas and Gray are getting some love and sharps hit the +125 and +120 forcing the book to drop the number to +108

UPDATE:

A soft line at the opening for the Giolito and the White Sox. That line jumped very quickly from -105 to -118.

Weather is an obvious factor this time of the year and totals are being targeted. I loved many unders yesterday and ds did sharps. It is a similar story today.

In San Francisco, the total dropped from 7.5 to 7. In Boston, we saw a full run drop. From 9.5 to 8.5. In Cleveland, we have another 6.5 while the total opened at 7.

Good luck today
