Overnight Grind : Market Makers VS Sharps November 12, 2022

Market Makers are sportsbooks that are the first to post a line and set the market. They will control risk by lowering their bet limits when posting a spread or Moneyline before everyone else. Once the market adjusted, they max their bet limits. Talbot has been hot and won his last 8 starts but don't discount Jarry he's been solid this year.

We look for sharps to be much more active in the NHL and NBA since the MLB is almost over however this is not these are not sports that sharps are the most excited about since market makers tend to have very low max limits early on most of the games. The NBA sees much more action than the NHL.

For VIPs, your best start would be to look at the morning sharp report, which will give you an excellent summary of what happened overnight. In the afternoon, the sharp report updates and games might be added or removed based on what happened in the morning. The last update is around 4-5 pm EST and not much movement is expected after that. If there is movement, it will usually be square money loading up on games before they start.

Another tool that can be used with the sharp report is the MLB model on our website. Comparing the sharp money with our projection can help you make your own picks if both the model and sharp agree.

The format of this article will be changed once we will have multiple sports running every day and the focus will go back to looking at lines that moved the most overnight.

We have a jam-packed Saturday with a ton of games. Let's start with some NHL.

The Rangers finally broke a 3 game-losing streak scoring 8 goals in Detroit. Nashville has been zero consistency from Saros and his SV% dropped under .900. Are the Rangers back to what they were at the start of the season? Is this a good spot for them to put up a couple of wins? Sharps don't think so. They opened at -141 at Betonline and sharps hit Nashville at +128 and dropped the line to +113.

The Raptors looked like crap and fatigue is starting to show. They let OKC shoot at 56% and they were 11/30 from 3-pointers. They are 0-2 on b2b spots and it won't be easier versus Indiana's 4th-rank offense. The Pacers have covered 6 straight and have covered or won in 6 straight home games versus Toronto. This is a good spot for them and the smart money agrees. The Raptors opened a 2.5 favorite mid-afternoon on Friday and during the OKC game, they dropped from -2.5 to -1 and finally +1.

In CBB it's been quiet up to now and our biggest mover is by 2.5 pts. VCU opened at -17.5 and moved to -20 late Friday night. Louisville program is a mess and Wright State is getting some action. They opened at +7 and are now at +5. Another underdog that received some action is Wagner. They opened at +6.5 and are currently at +4.5.
