Overnight Grind : Market Makers VS Sharps May 20, 2022

Market Makers are sportsbooks that are the first to post a line and set the market. They will control risk by setting their bet limits lower when posting a spread or Moneyline before everyone else. Once the market adjusted, they max their bet limits. Talbot has been hot and won his last 8 starts but don't discount Jarry he's been solid this year.

Seems scoring went back to normal in round 2 of the NHL playoffs. Sharps were on the over in the Panthers game and that was a loss. In the NBA, sharps were interested in the over in the Miami game but once Horford and Smart were confirmed we saw money coming in on the under. Anyway, that didn't matter for the early birds that stayed with the over. As for baseball, the sharps were on the Mariners and they looked good early on but then Story went off and that was the end of the story for them.

We have no sharp interest in the NHL today. A couple of US-based books reported an RLM on the Rangers at around +155 but that's it. 55% of the handle is on the Canes. Just like game 1 and as I told our VIPs, ill continue on supporting the under in this series and game 1 went exactly as I anticipated it. In Calgary, we are expecting another flood of goals tonight. Game 1 was unreal. I never know what to expect from the Oiler's goalies however Markstrom was disappointing in game 1 and we can expect him to be much better in game 2. 60% of the handle is on the over and I have yet to see any sharp interest in this game.

In the NBA we have sharp money that came in on the Warriors late last night and very early this morning. The line history is different between market makers but the common factor is that sharp money is coming in at -6 and some books have already adjusted the line to -6.5. Going back to May 18th, some books opened their line at -7 but adjusted when the market makers posted their opening number. I feel +6 is too much here but Dallas needs to shoot better in this game and also cannot afford to let the Warriors shoot for 56%.
