Overnight Grind : Market Makers VS Sharps July 15, 2022

While most of us are sleeping, Market Makers and Sharps are adjusting the markets so that by the time we wake up and are ready to bet, the markets have adjusted in favour of the sportsbook. Let's take a quick look at some games where the sportsbooks had to make some adjustments based on heavy sharp interest.

Market Makers are sportsbooks that are the first to post a line and set the market. They will control risk by lowering their bet limits when posting a spread or Moneyline before everyone else. Once the market adjusted, they max their bet limits. Talbot has been hot and won his last 8 starts but don't discount Jarry he's been solid this year.

RECAP: We skip the article on the 14th however on the 13th the sharps and model both loved the Astros ML and the Red Sox over 7. Both those games were losers!!!

We look for sharps to be much more active in MLB now that the NHL and NBA seasons are over however this is not the sport that sharps are the most excited about since market makers tend to have very low max limits early on most of the games due to many variables in MLB. Weather is one of them and probably the most important.

For VIPs, your best start would be to look at the sharp report in the morning which will give you an excellent summary of what happened overnight. In the afternoon, the sharp report updates and games might be added or removed based on what happened in the morning. The last update is around 4-5 pm EST and not much movement is expected after that. If there is movement, it will usually be square money loading up on games before they start.

Another tool that can be used with the sharp report is the MLB model on our website. Comparing the sharp money with our projection can help you make your own picks if both the model and sharp agree.

For Friday the sharps are on a small favorite and an underdog. The model only agrees on the underdog therefore like take a look at that game. As for the favorite, you can find it on the sharp report.

The Reds are definitely getting some attention as of late. They won 5 of their last 6 and have been giving the Yankees a massive headache. Mind you New York hasn't been playing their best baseball but it's still impressive what the Reds have been doing especially because, well, it's the Reds. They are hitting RHP close to .300 in their last 5 and received some great pitching to support their offence. The bullpen has an ERA of 2.21 during that same time period. The Cardinals, well, it's still french in my mind, blowing a 6-0 lead on Wednesday while we had them on the moneyline. The relievers have been awful last 5 games and sport an ERA of 6,16. I don't like Hunter Greene! Enough said. He's 1-6 on the road this year with an ERA of 5.61. He gave up 10 ERs in the last 3 games on 15 innings pitched. We have to give him credit though, last game he was great striking out 9, allowing 3 hits and 1 ER in 6 innings versus Tampa. Pallante's is regressing but like his xERA is pointing out. His ERA went from 0.90 in May (10 IP) to 9.64 in July (9.1 IP) Hitters have an average of .413 in July and a wOBA of .472. If the Reds stay hot they can get to him and this match-up will be much easier than facing Cole, Severino, and Cortes. I support the sharps and the model. Go Reds Go

Good luck today
