Overnight Grind : Market Makers VS Sharps April 29, 2022

While most of us are sleeping, Market Makers and Sharps are adjusting the markets so that by the time we wake up and are ready to bet, the markets have adjusted in favour of the sportsbook. Let's take a quick look at some games where the sportsbooks had to make some adjustments based on heavy sharp interest.

Market Makers are sportsbooks that are the first to post a line and set the market. They will control risk by setting their bet limits lower when posting a spread or Moneyline before everyone else. Once the market adjusted, they max their bet limits. Talbot has been hot and won his last 8 starts but don't discount Jarry he's been solid this year.

I told you I didn't like the over in Minnesota! Sharps were wrong on that one! The Reds blew most properly in the only game they could have won for the rest of April. Sharps were wrong with that game also. However, they got the Blue Jays under right!

If you like to tail these plays, I recommend you tail the teams that are in bold.

Honestly, I don't even want to look at the NHL tomorrow. Teams resting many players however they are part of the morning practices therefore it makes it hard to figure out the lineups until the warmups. Also, many meaningless games, you would think teams won't play any defense, you'll find many sharps on the overs and games finish under.

Ok, I'm done being a downer. We should still see a couple of good games and the sharps at Betonline jumped on the Capitals tomorrow in the Big Apple. The Rangers locked up the 2nd seed in the Met division while the Capitals can still improve and move in 3rd in the Met Division. The Rangers sat many starters versus the Habs even though in the morning practice their top 6 practiced together. Betonline opened the Rangers a -140 favourite and the sharps jumped on the Caps dropping the line to -110. The Rangers don't have much to play for in this game and don't seem to care about carrying momentum in the playoffs losing their last 3 games.

UPSET ALERTS in the NHL

We have seen some big underdogs winning in the last couple of days versus elite teams that are resting players. That can be an option on Friday with Montreal. They clinched the last spot in the standings and they might want to give a solid effort in their last game of the season versus potentially a Florida team that might rest some players. The Habs are +245. Columbus just beat the Lighting and needs to travel overnight to Pittsburgh. DeSmith is projected with Jarry still nursing a mild injury. This is an important game for Pittsburgh since they can drop to 4th place if they lose and the Caps win therefore I would stay away from Columbus. Tampa Bay might not give a shit either versus the Islanders which are +170. Dallas clinched and might rest players making the Ducks also a viable upset spot at +190. Arizona came back from a 3-0 deficit versus the Stars and won in OT. That was a huge upset considering how important the game was for them. Lucky enough Vegas shit the bed in Chicago. Arizona will host Nashville which should dress goalie Ingram for the game, therefore, making the Coyotes another potential upset at +235.

Sorry, but there is not much to write for the only NBA game tomorrow. The little interest I saw from sharps was on Minnesota at +1.5 and the over 227.5. This will be a busy game for the books however mostly from square action. Memphis currently owns 60% of the tickets and 65% of the handle.

In the MLB we still have 3 games with no line. In the other games, Cortes and the Yankees are getting lots of early love. Cortes has 20k's throughout his last 2 games, 25k's in his 15.1 innings pitched and only walked 3 batters. The Yankees won 6 straight and put up double digits runs in 3 of their last 4 games. Kubic has 3 starts and only pitched a total of 7 innings. He gave up 11 ER in, walked 5 and has an OBP of .525. I hope he went to church, lit a candle and did a little prayer hoping the gods will give him a break versus the Yankees. 5dimes opened the Yankees at -167 and sharps steamed the line to -200 and this line will keep on going up. My MLB model has the Yankees at -230 and is aligned with the sharp interest. I'd be looking at betting them in F5 at -0.5.

UPDATE:

In the NHL the Bruins got some love overnight and forced the books to adjust the Leafs from -140 to -120 but that's pretty much it. Nothing has changed in the NBA.

The Padres got steamed at 5dimes from -155 to -175. I really don't like Darvish. The Cardinals are on the Sharp report this morning and for a good reason. Sharps pushed the line to -180 overnight. The A's went up about 20 pts between 2 am and 8 am and are now at -145. Who would think the sharps would give Oakland some love this year eh?
