The edge on a dashboard is not the edge in your account. Execution-adjusted EV measures the gap between them. The lesson splits a play into three layers: the theoretical pricing edge, the realizable value after limits, fees and fill odds, and the operational risk of delays, voids and misgrades. A worked example starts at a 4.5 percent gross edge, subtracts a per-dollar cost, then shows a worse accepted line turning the whole thing negative. You also meet adverse selection, where the bets that do fill skew toward the worst ones. Learn this before sizing a stake and you stop treating a scanner label as money already earned.
Learning objectives

- Identify the assumptions and conditions that can invalidate the modeled edge.
- Design an auditable research or practice workflow.
