Boston Red Sox -1.5 +153
The Orioles and Red Sox play G2 of this 4 game series tonight at Fenway. The Orioles scored early and often last night on route to a 14-8 victory. I don’t expect as many runs scored tonight when K. Bradish faces M. Wacha. Bradish has really pitched well of late, in his last 7 starts his ERA is 2.04, however, one team has given him problems all season and that is the Red Sox, the Orioles have lost 3 out of 4 of Bradish’s starts versus the Red Sox. Wacha has been lights out at Fenway this season where the Sox are 8-1 in his 9 home starts as his ERA is 1.72. Yes the O’s have more to play for here but I like the Red Sox to play spoiler.
Detroit Tigers -1.5 +179
The Royals are in Detroit to start a 3 game series with the Tigers. It will be veteran Z. Greinke versus the youngster J. Wentz on the mound. Greinke just can’t it done on the road this season his ERA is a whopping 6.36 and this has resulted in the Royals losing 9 of his 12 road starts, with 7 of the losses being by multiple runs. For the Tigers; Wentz has been solid in every start except his first and that isn’t uncommon for a youngster making his MLB debut. Since getting roughed up in his first start the Tigers are 3-1 over the next 4 while he’s posted an ERA of 0.90 and WHIP of 0.60. Needless to say that Wentz has found his grove and should be able to shut down the Royals anemic offense.
Cincinnati Reds -110 1st 5 innings
The Reds face the Pirates tonight in G2 of this 3 game series, we hit the Pirates -1.5 last night in a 8-3 victory as the Reds bullpen couldn’t keep it together late in the game. Tonight I will back the Reds behind rookie H. Greene that has been pitching great over his last 6 starts, his stat line is an ERA 2.43, WHIP 1.02 and 48 SO over 43 and 1/3 innings pitched. For the Pirates it will be M. Keller on the mound who has pitched better of late but the Pirates have issues winning when he’s on the mound, the Pirates have lost 85% of his home starts this season so there is no reason to believe that tonight’s result will be any different. I will back the Reds for the 1st 5 innings to avoid having to rely on their bullpen.
