Yesterday we backed the Padres on the run line and it worked out well as M. Clevinger probably had his best start of the season. I will back the Friars again tonight as we have a similar situation in that we have a Cardinals starter that struggles on the road mightily in M. Mikolas. Like Wainwright, Mikolas's ERA is a full 2 points higher on the road than at home. For the Friars, it will be B. Snell on the mound and he's been very good of late and think he will be able to limit the Cards scoring opportunities. I like the Padres again tonight by multiple runs.

Chicago Cubs +104

Tonight is the finale of this 3 games series between the Cubs and Marlins, which is tied at a game apiece. It will be M. Stroman versus J. Luzardo on the mound. It is crazy to think that Stroman has a road ERA of 1.84 of the season but the Cubs have a losing record at 4-8 in his 12 starts. Well tonight he faces a team that has its issues scoring runs, so Stroman should be able to remain his dominant self. For the Marlins, Luzardo has had his moments this season where he's pitched really well but then has games where he gives up 4-5 earned runs in less than 6 innings. With the current form of both offenses, Stroman has more leeway than Luzardo, so I will back the Cubs at plus money.

Toronto Blue Jays +101

We will see if the Jays and Phils play another football type of game tonight as 29 runs were scored between both teams last night. It was a night to forget for both pitching staffs. Tonight we have K. Gausman versus Z. Wheeler, normally I would love backing Wheeler as a small favorite at home, however, he's coming off the IL and will be on a pitch count which will make for another long night for the Phils pen. Add to that, the Phils' defense is one of the worst in the NL and they continue to allow their opponents extra opportunities to score runs with their defensive ineptitude. I will back the hotter team at plus money.
