Toronto Maple Leafs/Buffalo Sabres O6.5 -105

The Leafs are in Buffalo to face the Sabres tonight, the Sabres will be on a B2B after beating the red hot Devils 5-2 last night, after falling behind 2-0 the Sabres scored 5 unanswered goals to take the game. The Leafs are off a 5-1 win over the Caps but are injury riddled right now missing key offensive player M. Marner but even more importantly are missing 3 really strong D men in M. Reilly, T. Liljegren and J. Edmundson which will really hurt them. Any team this is missing 3 of their 6 D men will be in for loads of problem on the defensive end. The Leafs are strong enough up front to still perform well in the absence of a player like Marner but do not have enough depth to make up all the losses on the defensive end. I like both sides to be able to score tonight and get over the 6.5 total.

Pittsburgh Pirates/Miami Marlins O8.5 -110

The Pirates and Marlins play game 3 of this 4 game series tonight when rookie J. Jones faces R. Weathers on the mound. Jones will be making his MLB debut tonight and is ranked as the Pirates #3 prospect in their system. Weathers is in his first season with the Marlins, he pitched with the Padres last season and when he did start he wasn't very good. He sported a 6.23 ERA and often was out of his starts by the 4th inning as he was getting hit around. These teams have hit around in the first 2 games of this series scoring 11 runs in G1 and 9 runs last night. Jones will have jitters making his 1st MLB start and Weathers hasn't been able to get out with regularity of his short MLB career. I like the over between these two teams tonight.

SD Padres -1.5 +163

The Padres look to rebound from a bad loss to the Giants last night when D. Cease faces J. Hicks. Hicks is another new piece the Giants added during the offseason and is trying to convert from reliever to starter. Time will tell if that transition will be successful. For Cease hopefully a change of scenery from the disfunction of the White Sox to the Padres can help him regain his CY Young candidacy form from 2 years ago. Last season was one to forget for Cease as his ERA ballooned 4.63 and he only won 9 games. He joins the Padres that are a very solid defensive team with Gold Glovers in HS Kim & F. Tatis, as well a strong defensive fielders in X. Bogaerts and J. Cronenworth. With Hicks not fully transitioned to a starter yet and on a pitch count this early in the season, I see the Padres getting to the Giants bullpen and running away with this game. I like the Padres on the run line.
